D-backs' three jacks net series win vs. Padres
SAN DIEGO -- Ender Inciarte drilled two home runs and David Peralta added a solo home run as the D-backs edged the Padres, 4-2, on Sunday at Petco Park.
San Diego pitcher James Shields allowed all three home runs and has now yielded 33 this season, tying him with Kyle Kendrick of the Rockies for the most allowed in 2015. He allowed four runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts.
"I was really excited to face him," Inciarte said of Shields. "The last time I faced him they scored a lot of runs. He's a very energetic guy and it's fun to face guys like that who are very competitive."

Randall Delgado, the D-backs' fourth pitcher of the day, came on with two on and two outs in the seventh inning and got Matt Kemp -- who is sitting on 99 RBIs -- to ground out to end the inning.

Reaching 200 again: When he struck out Jake Lamb to end the fourth inning Sunday, Shields completed his 200th inning of the season, giving him nine consecutive seasons where he's tossed 200 or more innings. "I go out there every five days and pitch with my heart on my sleeve. I'm going to be a bulldog out as much as I can," Shields said.
Power surge: It was the first multi-homer game of Inciarte's career. He entered the game with four homers after hitting four all of last season. His first homer -- in the fifth -- gave the D-backs a 2-1 lead while his second -- in the seventh -- helped break open a tie game and give Arizona a 4-2 advantage. More >
"I was just trying to get a good pitch to hit and not trying to do too much, really," Inciarte said.
Speed at the top: Rookie center fielder Travis Jankowski got his second start in the leadoff spot on Sunday and made the most of it in the fifth inning, when he lined an RBI triple to the wall in center field that gave the Padres their first run. It was the second triple for the speedy Jankowski in his first 28 games since coming up from Triple-A El Paso last month.

"Travis is giving us a big lift," said Padres interim manager Pat Murphy. "It's part of getting comfortable in the big leagues."
Piggybacking: D-backs starter Zack Godley was only penciled in for three innings as the team is trying to be careful with his pitch count, with Jhoulys Chacin following him. Godley allowed just two hits and did not allow a run.

With the loss, the Padres dropped to 9-16 this month. The 16 losses are the most in any one month this season. They lost 15 games in May and June. Their only winning record (13-11) came in July.
REPLAY REVIEW
The D-backs challenged a call at second base when Inciarte was ruled out after catcher Derek Norris threw him out on an attempted steal. The call was eventually overturned, leaving Norris -- who leads the Major Leagues in CCS (catcher caught stealing) -- with 38 base stealers cut down.

D-backs: After taking Monday off, the D-backs open a three-game series with the Rockies on Tuesday night at Chase Field at 6:40 p.m. MST. Robbie Ray (5-12, 3.53 ERA) will start for the D-backs, who finish the season with a six-game homestand that also includes a visit from the Astros.
Padres: The Padres are off on Monday before opening a three-game series against the Brewers at 7:10 p.m. PT on Tuesday. Tyson Ross (10-11, 3.17) will make his final start of the season. He defeated the Brewers on Aug. 3 at Miller Park, allowing two runs in six innings. These will be the final three games at Petco Park this season.
