D-backs name annual 34th pick after Hahn

Scouting department member was selected by club in that round in 2013

PHOENIX -- The D-backs announced on Friday that the club will name its annual 34th-round Draft pick the "Cory Hahn 34th pick," beginning with this year's Draft next week.

Hahn, who works in the D-backs' scouting department, suffered a fracture in his C-5 vertebrae after playing just three games as a freshman with Arizona State University in 2011. Before hiring him, the D-backs selected Hahn with their 34th-round selection in '13.

Hahn wore No. 34 while playing for the Sun Devils.

"When we drafted Cory two years ago, we did so with the intention of him being a part of this organization for many years to come," D-backs president & CEO Derrick Hall said in a press release. "By naming our 34th pick after him, we ensure his place in D-backs history, even as he just begins to make his mark in the front office."

After graduating from ASU in 2014, Hahn joined the D-backs' front office as an assistant in the Scout Ahead Development Program.

"This is an extremely humbling gesture and an honor for not only myself, but my family as well," Hahn said in a press release. "I'm beyond grateful to be a part of the D-backs family."
