Bush named bullpen coach to complete 2013 staff

The A's named Darren Bush bullpen coach on Friday, completing manager Bob Melvin's staff for the 2013 season.

All but one of Melvin's staff from 2012 will return. Rick Rodriguez, who was the A's bullpen coach the past two seasons, has been offered a Minor League assignment in the organization.

Bush managed in Oakland's system the past six years, initially joining the A's as a hitting coach at Class A Advanced Stockton. The 38-year-old led Triple-A Sacramento to consecutive division titles the last two seasons and Double-A Midland to a Texas League championship in 2009. He also led Stockton to the California League championship in 2008.

The rest of Oakland's staff remains the same. Tye Waller returns for his seventh season and third straight as first-base coach, Mike Gallego returns for his fifth straight season as third-base coach and Curt Young will once again serve as pitching coach. Hitting coach Chili Davis, bench coach Chip Hale and Major League coach Ariel Prieto also return for their second consecutive seasons in their respective positions.
