David Martinelli Does It All

Pitchers have bad games. They have good games. Or like Texas prep pitcher David Martinelli they can have incredible games. In a Class 4A regional playoff game against McKinney North High, the top seed in the tournament, Waxahachie’s ace threw a no hitter and scored the only run of the game, thanks to a solo home run in the third inning.

What made this performance the cherry on the top, however, was the fact that even though the game was in fact won due to his dominance on the mound and his run, he never boasted about the win. Instead, he had nothing but high praise for his team and its fans. “It was a great team win,” he said. “[My teammates] played great behind me. We definitely couldn't have done it without all our fans out here supporting us either.”
