Dodgers get Hynes from Indians, designate Baxter

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers acquired left-hander Colt Hynes from the Indians on Sunday for right-hander Duke von Schamann, and designated outfielder Mike Baxter for assignment.

Baxter, who opened the season with the Dodgers, had been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday to make room for the activation of outfielder Matt Kemp.

The Dodgers added the 28-year-old Hynes to the 40-man roster and assigned him to Albuquerque.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he saw Hynes a little bit last season with the Padres.

"I looked at him at little bit on tape this morning to remind myself about him," Mattingly said before Sunday's game against the Giants, adding that Hynes would likely be used as a reliever. "He's going to go to Albuquerque and he's on the 40-man, so he's a guy we can use."
