Pederson makes game-saving catch in ninth
Dodgers center fielder denies Upton of walk-off hit
SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson, who ran down three line drives earlier in the game to save runs, saved the game for the Dodgers with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning by outrunning Justin Upton's drive to dead center.

With runners on first and second, Pederson raced back and gloved the ball just before slamming chest-first into the fence, ricocheting onto his back on the warning track, preserving the 2-2 tie and sending the game into extra innings. The Dodgers went on to win, 4-2, in 11 innings.

Upton, who won Saturday night's game for San Diego with an eighth-inning home run off Zack Greinke, was given the green light by Padres manager Bud Black on the 3-0 fastball from Juan Nicasio, who threw nothing but fastballs in the ninth inning because a cracked fingernail prevents him from throwing breaking balls.
