Dodgers Reinstate Brandon Beachy, Option Josh Ravin

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated right-handed pitcher Brandon Beachy from the 60-day disabled list (right elbow surgery) and optioned right-handed pitcher Josh Ravin to Triple-A Oklahoma City. To create room on the 40-man roster, Los Angeles designated Matt West for assignment.

Beachy, 28, will make his Dodger debut tonight and will make his first start since August 20, 2013 after recovering from his second "Tommy John" surgery. He made 46 career Major League starts in four seasons with the Atlanta Braves and posted a 14-11 record with a 3.23 ERA (96 ER/267.2 IP). The Indiana native has limited opposing batters to a .220 average along with 275 strikeouts against only 86 walks, posting a career 3.20 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Beachy made five rehab starts for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City, going a combined 1-1 with a 2.41 ERA (5 ER/18.2 IP). He last pitched for the OKC Dodgers on Monday, allowing three runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings, striking out five and issuing two walks.

Ravin has made seven relief appearances for Los Angeles this season, striking out nine and issuing just one walk in 7.0 innings.
