Dodgers to extend stadium netting for safety

Decision in accordance with new recommendations from MLB

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Dodgers will extend the netting at Dodger Stadium in accordance with new safety recommendations issued by Major League Baseball, the club announced on Wednesday.

The screen behind home plate will be extended to cover the seating area between the ends of the dugouts closest to home plate and within 70 feet of home plate.

MLB issues recommendations regarding netting

Extended netting is intended to shield fans from line-drive foul balls. The Commissioner's Office has retained a consultant specializing in stadium architecture and protective netting to assist interested clubs in implementing the recommendation.
