• Left-hander Jeremy Affledt (left groin strain) will start throwing soon and could be ready to pitch by Sept. 1.

• Outfielder Angel Pagan (left hamstring surgery) will have his rehab assignment transferred to Fresno from the Arizona Rookie League. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Pagan will play as much as possible when he returns "to get his mind right and help get him back to being the player he was."

• San Francisco pinch-hitters have 33 RBIs on the season, most in the Majors. Brandon Belt has six, while Gregor Blanco and Hector Sanchez each have five.
