Did you know? ALCS Game 5: BOS 4, DET 3

A look at some notable facts and figures from the Boston Red Sox's 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series at Comerica Park on Thursday.

• Four of the first five games in the ALCS have been decided by one run, tying the ALCS record set in 1997 in the series between the Indians and the Orioles.

• The Red Sox's three runs in the second inning were their first before the sixth inning since Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Rays.

• Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. There has never been a cycle recorded in the postseason.

Jacoby Ellsbury set a Red Sox record for stolen bases in a single postseason with six. The Red Sox broke their team record with 10 this postseason.

• Red Sox DH David Ortiz singled in the fifth inning to snap an 0-for-10 stretch.

Xander Bogaerts was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double in his first postseason start and has now reached base in five of eight postseason plate appearances. Bogaerts, 21, was the youngest Red Sox player to start a postseason game since Babe Ruth in the 1916 World Series.

• Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks. It was the shortest start of his postseason career.

Junichi Tazawa pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run in the seventh inning that broke a streak of 17 1/3 scoreless innings by the Red Sox bullpen.

Koji Uehara delivered a five-out save, his longest of the postseason. Uehara is the first Red Sox pitcher to record a save of at least five outs since Jonathan Papelbon clinched Boston's 2007 World Series title with the final five outs of Game 4 against the Rockies.

• Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and is 3-for-32 this postseason with 10 punchouts.

• Tigers DH Victor Martinez has 16 hits through 10 postseason games this year, the second-best single-season total in franchise history.

• Tigers center fielder Austin Jackson is 4-for-6 with two walks since moving to the eighth spot in the order in Game 4.

Al Alburquerque has appeared in each of the first five games of the ALCS, setting a new mark for most appearances by a Tigers reliever in a single postseason. He has six strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
