• Four of the first five games in the ALCS have been decided by one run, tying the ALCS record set in 1997 in the series between the Indians and the Orioles.

• The Red Sox's three runs in the second inning were their first before the sixth inning since Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Rays.

• Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. There has never been a cycle recorded in the postseason.
