Five Minor League players suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that five Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Free agent Minor League right-handed pitchers Carlos Artiles and Felix Bautista have each received a 72-game suspension without pay after testing positive for metabolites of Nandrolone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspensions of Artiles and Bautista will be effective immediately upon their signing with another Major League organization.

Free agent Minor League catcher Kyle Bacak has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Amphetamine, a stimulant in violation of the Program. The suspension of Bacak will be effective immediately upon his signing with another Major League organization.

San Diego Padres Minor League right-handed pitcher Travis Remillard has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Amphetamine, a stimulant in violation of the Program. The suspension of Remillard, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Arizona League Padres, will be effective at the start of the 2015 AZL season.

Houston Astros Minor League right-handed pitcher Andrew Walter has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Walter, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Lancaster JetHawks of the California League, will be effective at the start of the 2015 California League season.
