Flood damages artifacts in Cleveland baseball museum

A flood last week at the Baseball Heritage & Broadcast Museum in Cleveland destroyed much of the historic memorabilia on display, according to a report on WKYC.com.

The problem started with a burst pipe in the ceiling that went unnoticed for several days, resulting in four to eight inches of water on the floor. Many of the artifacts, which include pieces from the Negro Leagues as well as collectibles from Latin American baseball, were damaged or completely lost in the flood.

As for the salvaged memorabilia, museum curator Jim Davison is looking to find it a new home, as the flooded Colonial Arcade location is not repairable.

The Baseball Heritage museum initially opened in 1999 and later added the broadcasting section in 2008.
