Former hurler Lopez to join D-backs' Spanish broadcast

Former D-backs pitcher Rodrigo Lopez will serve as the team's Spanish radio color analyst starting in 2014, with a slate that includes all 162 regular-season games and two Spring Training games on KSUN Radio Fiesta 1400 AM.

Lopez, the first former Arizona player to join the Spanish broadcast team, will work alongside play-by-play man Oscar Soria. Lopez will make his first public appearance with the D-backs at 5 p.m. MST Monday night at the team's annual holiday party at the MLB All-Star Arizona Diamondbacks Boys & Girls Club.

Lopez appeared in 33 games (all starts) for the D-backs in 2010, going 7-16 and leading the team in innings pitched (200) and games started while tying for the most quality starts (15). He played for seven teams over an 11-year Major League career, putting together an 81-89 record and 4.82 ERA. The right-hander's 15 wins during his 2002 rookie season are tied for the most ever by a Mexican-born rookie.

Lopez is currently pitching in the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico with the Tomateros de Culiacan.

Lopez and Soria will travel for all 81 road games next season for the first time since 2010 as the D-backs return to KSUN Radio Fiesta. Soria is in his 16th full season as the play-by-play voice.
