O's recall Gausman, option Wilson to Norfolk

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles have recalled right-handed pitcher Kevin Gausman from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Wilson to Norfolk on Thursday.

This comes as an expected move as Wilson was called up Wednesday, when the team designated Delmon Young for assignment, but did not enter the game. Gausman (1-0, 4.24 ERA), who started the year in the Orioles' bullpen before being placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 8 with right shoulder tendinitis, is set to make his second start of the season Thursday night against the Rangers.

He returned from the DL on June 20 to make his first start of 2015 against the Blue Jays, going five innings while giving up four hits, two runs and a walk in a no-decision. He was then optioned to Triple-A Norfolk the next day. Gausman made one start with Norfolk after being optioned to the Tides on June 21, surrendering one hit, walking two and striking out three over three scoreless innings on June 28 vs. Toledo.
