Giants and Dignity Health extend partnership into 2019

Extension will ensure the partnership spans more than two decades

The Giants and Dignity Health have extended their partnership until 2019, which will ensure this precedent setting relationship between a major league baseball organization and a health care provider will span over two decades.

It was back in November of 1998 that these two organizations made history when they announced the establishment of an on-site health care facility at the Giants new ballpark, which opened in 2000. The Giants became the first major league baseball team to house a health center serving the surrounding neighborhood. Since opening, the Saint Francis Health Center at AT&T Park has continually served the health needs of the ever growing South of Market area, including the residents of the South Beach, China Basin and Mission Bay neighborhoods. The center also provides occupational health services to businesses in the area.

In addition to the health clinic, the partnership extends into many facets of the Giants organization. Dignity Health provides health care services to the Giants major and minor league players and operates the day-of-game first aid center during all Giants home games and major ballpark events. Dignity Health also has a large signage and branding presence in AT&T Park and the team supports Dignity Health's hellohumankindness.org movement. As corporate community leaders, the Giants and Dignity Health work together on a number of community outreach programs focused on improving the health of our fans and the greater Bay Area community.

"We are extremely grateful to Dignity Health for being one of the first partners to step up and help make AT&T Park a reality. Our longstanding and unique partnership plays a critical role in providing the best possible care for our players and the fans who visit AT&T Park," said Larry Baer, Giants president and chief executive officer.

"We're proud to be associated with an outstanding organization like the Giants," said Lloyd H. Dean, president/ CEO of Dignity Health. "Our partnership provides us the opportunity to demonstrate our excellence in healthcare as well as expand our support for the communities we serve through the on-site health clinic."

Dignity Health joins a multitude of Giants sponsors who have extended their agreements with the Giants in 2013 ranging from two to 10-year commitments. These partners include Coca-Cola, Oracle, MillerCoors, Stubhub, Salesforce, Chevron and Audi. Coca-Cola and Chevron have been with the Giants for more than 25 years and, along with Dignity Health, are original Pacific Bell Park Winner's Circle Sponsors. Winner's Circle Sponsors were those companies who made significant financial commitments to ensure the building of AT&T Park back in 1997/98.
