Giants win challenge in 10th inning vs. Dodgers

Blanco ruled out at first base; call overturned after video review

SAN FRANCISCO -- A 10th-inning call that initially denied the Giants a leadoff baserunner in Tuesday's 3-2, 12-inning victory over the Dodgers was overturned following a video review.

San Francisco's Gregor Blanco hit a comebacker that Los Angeles reliever Jamey Wright deflected. Wright quickly picked up the ball and threw to first base, where Blanco dove head-first in an effort to beat the throw. Umpire Andy Fletcher called Blanco out, but the Giants quickly requested a review, which verified that Blanco was safe and overturned the initial call.

Blanco eventually advanced to third base, but the Giants left the bases loaded to end the inning. It marked the third and final time that San Francisco filled the bases yet couldn't score. The Giants ultimately left 16 runners on base and went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. They're hitting .211 (12-for-57) with men in scoring position during the first seven games of their nine-game homestand.
