GV Art + Design unveils T-shirt design
Vlosich brothers honor 1995 Indians for giveaway on June 20
CLEVELAND -- George Vlosich remembers bringing his drawings to Indians games at old Cleveland Stadium and hoping to catch the eye of the Tribe's players. Former Indians catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. was one of the ones who noticed, signed autographs and called others over to check out the art.
On Friday afternoon, Alomar (now the Indians' first-base coach) stood between George and his brother Greg, helping unveil the T-shirt that the duo designed for a June 20 giveaway to honor the 1995 Indians team that reached the World Series. The Vlosich brothers now own and operate GV Art + Design in nearby Lakewood, Ohio, and have teamed with the Tribe for a promotion two seasons in a row.
"It's a dream come true," George Vlosich said. "To be doing it now with the team and having them recognize your talents, we're definitely very blessed."
The shirt that will be given away as part of the Indians' June 19-20 celebration of the '95 team is blue with the slogan "Summer of '95" on the front. Drawn into the numbers are former Tribe players Omar Vizquel, Carlos Berga, Charles Nagy, Manny Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, Orel Hershiser, Jim Thome, Dennis Martinez and Alomar, along with former manager Mike Hargrove.
"We wanted to capture the '95 team," Vlosich said, "and do it in a cool way and do it artistically like we do a lot of our shirts. The shirt, for us, is just another canvas for us to work on."
The first 12,500 fans in attendance for the June 20 game against the Rays will receive the exclusive shirt, which will not be available online or in GV Artwork + Design's store. Fans wanting to guarantee a shirt can do so by purchasing a Promo Pass ticket for an additional $5 on Indians.com. More information is available at Indians.com/promopass.
