Highlights from first week of Phillies Summer of Giving presented by The GIANT Company
The Phillies Summer of Giving presented by The GIANT Company is in full swing!
Last week, the team held their first set of events for the annual collection of charitable experiences, kicking off with a backyard makeover in Wynnewood, Pa., presented by King Swings.
On Wednesday, the club held its annual “Bocce at the Ballpark” tournament with Special Olympics athletes. Phillies front office volunteers, ambassadors Dickie Noles, Milt Thompson and Ed Wade, the Phanatic and Phillies Ballgirls helped out with the fun, competing with and against the Special Olympics participants.
The next day, members of the team went out to Temple University Hospital – Main Campus in Norht Philly to visit post-transplant patients. Ambassadors, Ballgirls and the Phanatic went door-to-door to deliver giveaways and smiles to those recovering from life-altering surgery.
Finally, overt he weekend, the team hosted local Phillies Nike RBI softball athletes at The Yard at Citizens Bank Park to watch the opening slate of Athletes Unlimited Softball League games. The young players were also treated to lunch and baseball/softball activities.
