Iglesias on Pawtucket's bench to 'regroup'
BOSTON -- Shortstop Jose Iglesias, who opened the season with the Red Sox, has been benched in recent days for unspecified reasons by Triple-A Pawtucket manager Gary DiSarcina.
Iglesias was pulled by DiSarcina in midgame Saturday. Tuesday marked the third straight day he was not in Pawtucket's lineup.
"I think, you know, just in the reports from the Triple-A staff, we felt it was best he needed a couple of days to regroup," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "[He needs to] kind of get back to what has allowed him to be a very good player and experience success. He's dealing with some things."
When Stephen Drew opened the season on the disabled list, Iglesias was Boston's starting shortstop for the first week of the season. Iglesias seized that opportunity, hitting .450 in 20 at-bats.
Iglesias is hitting .235 in 35 games for Pawtucket this season, hitting three homers with 10 RBIs.
