Jeremy Affeldt Returns $500K

Back in 2010 and fresh off of a career year on the mound, Jeremy Affeldt had the opportunity to basically earn $500,000 more than what he was owed. His paycheck for 2010 was supposed to be for $4 million, but due to a clerical error, his contract read $4.5 million. Instead of taking this bonus, which his agent, team and Players Association said he could take, he decided to change it back to $4 million. Why? He wanted to be a man of integrity.

How incredible is that? I’m no math major, but that’s like an 11% raise, right? Extra half a mil. And he just said thanks, but no thanks. Pretty awesome. Jeremy Affeldt, you deserve all the gold stars.
