Juan Miguel Puente, a Dominican film maker, sent Jose Bautista a photo of the Blue Jays outfielder from his Little League days. Bautista instantly Retweeted the photo, replying in Spanish that he still remembers this team.

I looked at all of the hopeful Major Leaguers and guessed that Bautista was seated front row, second from the right. Sure enough, Puente told me on Twitter that my presumption was accurate.

Evidently that charming smile and ears could not be overlooked. Bautista has certainly come a long way since his Little League days, he’s grown a few more inches, perfected the Bautista beard and developed his Little League swing into a home run crusher.
