McGowan remains an option for bullpen

KANSAS CITY -- After right-hander Dustin McGowan allowed only three hits in six innings on Tuesday, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was left to ponder whether McGowan's top value to the club over the long term would be as a starter or reliever.

"I'm not sure where it will all lead," Gibbons said.

While saying Wednesday that McGowan is "probably going to start again", Gibbons added that he remains intrigued by what McGowan could possibly bring to a beleaguered bullpen.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays continue to closely monitor the progress of right-hander Marcus Stroman, who worked six hitless innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. Stroman could be a rotation option if McGowan ultimately goes to the bullpen.

"He's on the radar," Gibbons said of Stroman. "We were watching him on the computer. He had it all going on out there."
