Ping Pong 4 Purpose to feature Dodger teammates, athletes and celebrities to raise money for Kershaw's Challenge

Los Angeles, CA (August 27, 2014) - Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star pitcher Clayton Kershaw and his wife Ellen will host their 2nd Annual Ping Pong 4 Purpose celebrity charity event on Thursday, September 4th on the field at Dodger Stadium. Limited tickets and sponsorship packages can still be obtained and donations made will benefit Kershaw's Challenge, a non-profit foundation which works to transform at-risk communities and the lives of children in Los Angeles, Dallas and Zambia. For more information, visit www.kershawschallenge.com/pp4p.

The event will feature celebrities and athletes, including Kershaw's Dodgers teammates, in a single elimination ping pong tournament, with a silent auction and live entertainment by DJ Skee throughout the tournament. Chris Harrison (ABC's "Bachelor/Bachelorette") will serve as the emcee. Uberpong is the table tennis sponsor and the tournament manager for the event.

"We are excited to host our 2nd Annual Ping Pong 4 Purpose event on the field at Dodger Stadium," said Clayton Kershaw. "Ellen and I are thrilled this event provides a way to combine our passion for making a difference in the lives of children with an activity that has become such a favorite of the Dodgers clubhouse. We're looking forward to a great night for a great cause."

Clayton and Ellen Kershaw founded Kershaw's Challenge with one goal: To challenge and encourage people to use whatever passion, purpose or talent that they have been given to make an impact on the lives of others in need. The charity partners with organizations both locally and abroad to renew hope one life at a time. In addition to fostering strong connections in the Los Angeles and Dallas communities, the Kershaws also have helped to build and support an orphanage in Zambia over the past two years.

Major League Baseball recognized the Kershaws' tireless efforts to give back to those in need, awarding Clayton the 2012 Roberto Clemente Award. He is the youngest-ever recipient of the award, which honors the player who best represents the game of baseball through positive contributions on and off the field. Clayton and Ellen are excited to build upon this recognition and further expand their charitable reach.
