Johnson hurls six shutout innings, nails down spot in Caribbean Series

The Leones captured their second straight championship and third in four years as Pirates newcomer Kris Johnson allowed four hits over six innings to complete a five-game sweep of the Aguilas. Former Major Leaguer Fernando Tatis fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in all three runs for Escogido. Hector Luna collected three of Cibaeñas' five hits. Box score

Mayaguez 6, Caguas 5, 11 innings
Reds prospect Juan Silva drew a two-out walk in the 11th inning and scored on an error as the Indios tied the best-of-7 Championship Series at 2-2. Royals infielder Irving Falu doubled, singled and drove in a run for Mayaguez, while Randy Ruiz delivered an RBI double and walked three times. Minor League veteran Miguel Abreu drove in a pair of runs for the Criollos. Box score

Obregon 5, Mexicali 3
Royals right-hander Luis Mendoza struck out 11 over six strong innings, helping the Yaquis take the opener of the best-of-7 Championship Series. Carlos Valencia singled twice and drove in three runs and former Major Leaguer Doug Clark scored three times for Obregon.
