Machado drives in 4 as O's win 6th straight
BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado homered and tied a career high with four RBIs, Nolan Reimold hit a two-run shot and the Orioles took advantage of CC Sabathia and a troubled Yankees bullpen in a 9-4 victory on Saturday night at Camden Yards, marking the Birds' sixth consecutive win.

David Lough also hit the first pinch-hit homer of his career as Baltimore pounded out a season-high seven extra-base knocks among 15 hits. The victory was earned by Chaz Roe in relief of starter Bud Norris, who provided 5 2/3 innings of four-run ball.
"I thought when he had the home run and the triple he might have a shot at something," O's manager Buck Showalter said of Reimold. "He's in a moment. He's not thinking about this or that. He's just taking every at-bat as it comes."
Sabathia lasted five innings in a no-decision, allowing four runs and eight hits. The loss was charged to Chris Martin, who gave up three runs and uncorked three wild pitches in the sixth inning.
"It's frustrating. It's frustrating for me," Sabathia said. "I usually pitch deep into the games, but it's just a different time. I'm out there battling and trying to go as long as I can."
Alex Rodriguez reached the 2,000 RBI plateau in the loss, cracking career homer No. 666 in the sixth inning off Norris.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Miscommunication station: Yankees catcher Brian McCann and first baseman Mark Teixeira converged on a third-inning popup near the first-base dugout railing, and neither called it as it fell safely between them. Reimold hit Sabathia's next pitch over the right-field scoreboard for a two-run homer. It was that kind of night for Sabathia, who also served up Machado's two-run homer in the fifth and Reimold's first triple since 2011 among his hardest-hit offerings. The damage might have been worse if not for Mason Williams' highlight-reel catch to steal an extra-base hit from Matt Wieters in the fourth.
"It's just communication. Someone's got to make that catch, that's the bottom line," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "You can't afford to give teams extra outs, especially teams that hit the ball out of the ballpark, and we've been doing that lately. When we don't win games, that's usually what happens."

Norris' up-and-down start: It didn't look like it was going to be a good night for Norris during the first inning. The right-hander gave up three hits and two runs in the opening frame, but rebounded by retiring 12 of the next 13 batters. He ran into trouble again in the sixth when he gave up a game-tying two-run homer to Rodriguez. Norris was pulled following a Didi Gregorius double. He struck out five.
"I worked deeper into the game," Norris said. "It felt good to get back out there and find a groove. I really thought I found a groove in the middle innings there. Buck made a decision to go to the 'pen [in the sixth], and we got out of it. We scored a bunch the next inning, and nice win. So let's sweep the series tomorrow."

A-Rod 2K: Rodriguez eclipsed the 2,000 RBIs mark with his two-run homer in the sixth inning off Norris. It was also the 2,995th hit of his career, moving him within five of becoming the 29th player in Major League history with 3,000 career hits. More >
"I won't be able to appreciate these things until years after I'm done playing," Rodriguez said. "My focus is to come out nightly and try to help the team win."

Orioles pull away in the 6th: With the game tied at 4, Wieters led off the inning with a double to left and advanced to third on Martin's first wild pitch. J.J. Hardy poked a weak single up the middle past a drawn-in infield to score Wieters. Following a single by Ryan Flaherty and another wild pitch, Machado hit a single through the right side that got past the pulled-in defense to push the score to 7-4. "We haven't hit much outside of the last two days," Showalter said. "We thought it was kind of counterproductive with the heat. Sometimes you can want something too much. Guys are in a little bit of a flow. You've got a lot of different guys contributing."

Yankees: Right-hander Adam Warren (4-4, 3.64 ERA) gets the ball for his 12th start of the season on Sunday as the Yankees complete their three-game series with the Orioles at 1:35 p.m. ET. Warren has recorded a quality start in each of his last five outings, going 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA over the streak.
Orioles: Mike Wright (2-1, 2.96 ERA) heads to the mound for the Orioles on Sunday as they go for the sweep against the Yankees. Wright is replacing Miguel Gonzalez in the rotation after Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain. Wright will be making his fifth start.
