Mariano Rivera has been closing out games and insuring the Yankees a win for almost two decades now. And on June 12, he closed out the “Classiest Man in Baseball” competition and insured his spot on the “Super Rad Dudes of History” list.
Mo kept his “Unsung Heroes” farewell tour rolling by hand delivering pizza to Julie Vasconcellos, who’s worked in the mail room of the Oakland A’s front office for more than 25 years. A living legend bringing food to a ballpark employee? Possibly the coolest sentence I’ve ever written. Not only is Mo a shoe-in for the Baseball Hall of Fame, he’s also a shoe-in for the Humanity Hall of Fame.
