Mariners outright catcher Brandon Bantz to Triple-A Tacoma

Bantz was designated for assignment on June 11.

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that catcher Brandon Bantz has been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma.

Bantz, 26, made one start for the Mariners (June 8 vs. NY Yankees), going 0-for-2. He was selected from AAA Tacoma on June 5.

Prior to being selected by Seattle, Bantz appeared in 17 games with AA Jackson and AAA Tacoma this season. He combined to bat .200 (11x55) with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Behind the plate he has thrown out 14 of 23 attempted base stealers (61%).

The native of Arlington, Texas (resides in Midlothian, TX) was originally selected in the 30th round of the 2009 June Draft out of Dallas Baptist University.
