Mariners trade Triple-A infielder Robert Andino to Pittsburgh Pirates organization for a player to be named later
Andino was designated for assignment on May 24; Outrighted to Tacoma May 27
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that the Mariners have traded Minor League infielder Robert Andino to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Andino, 29, hit .229 (35x153) with 17 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 44 games with AAA Tacoma after being outrighted on May 27. Andino began the season with Seattle, appearing in 29 games (22 starts) for the Mariners at three different positions (SS - 18 G/11 GS, 2B - 8 G/GS, 3B - 4 G/3 GS. He batted .184 (14x76) with 5 runs scored, 4 doubles and 4 RBI.
Andino was designated for assignment on May 24 when Seattle selected the contract catcher Jesus Sucre from Triple-A Tacoma.
