Marlins prospect Llera suspended 60 games

MIAMI -- Robert Llera, a catcher on the Gulf Coast League Marlins in Jupiter, Fla., was suspended 60 games without pay on Wednesday for being in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The 22-year-old tested positive for a metabolite of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance. The suspension will be effective at the start of the 2016 Gulf Coast League season.

Llera appeared in 14 games last season, batting .250 with a .333 on-base percentage. He had one double and two RBIs in 36 at-bats.

Llera, who attended Miami Dade Community College, was a 47th-round pick of the White Sox in the 2011 Draft.
