On Saturday night, the New York Yankees decided to turn back the clock. And they turned it WAY back. The Yanks invited 111-year-old (yes, you read that right) fan Bernando LaPollo to take in a game at Yankee Stadium where he got to watch batting practice from the field and chat with Derek Jeter and Joe Girardi. LaPollo was born in 1901 and has shaken hands with Babe Ruth. That’s not all, though. Here’s a highlight list of things this man has seen:
The Wright Brothers' first flight
The release of the first three Star Wars (The original trilogy. He was also around for the new trilogy but we don’t talk about those.)
That time Teddy Roosevelt wrestled a bear
Babe Ruth’s first homer
Babe Ruth’s last homer
The invention of:
-The Yankees
-Rock and Roll
-Television
-Superman
-Chia Pets
-The World Series
-Disco music
-The Designated Hitter
-Hot Wheels
That one week when parachute pants were cool
Your birth
World War 1 and 2
The opening of the original Yankee Stadium
The entirety of Michael Jackson’s career
EVERY SINGLE significant event in the last century!
