Mets again offering fan-tastic ticket discount

Number of strikeouts on road trip to determine price reductions on next homestand

SAN DIEGO -- For the second time this season, the Mets are tethering their pitching performances to discounts at the box office.

The Mets on Monday announced the return of their "Strikeouts for Savings" promotion during this week's road trip in San Diego and Phoenix. For every strikeout their pitchers record on the seven-game trip, they will take 1 percent off the price of select tickets for next week's homestand at Citi Field. If the Mets strike out 50 batters, for example, tickets will be half off.

Eligible tickets include baseline box, left-field landing and promenade outfield seats. Discounted tickets will go on sale within one hour after the conclusion of Sunday's series finale in Phoenix at Mets.com/Strikeouts.

Entering Monday's play, Mets pitchers ranked 10th in baseball with 409 strikeouts, and ninth with a rate of 8.17 per nine innings.
