Mets Sign RHP Jim Henderson

The New York Mets today announced the club has signed RHP Jim Henderson to a minor league contract with an invite to Major League Spring Training.

Henderson, 33, has made 111 career relief appearances in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2012-2014. In 2013, his first full season with the Brewers, Henderson went 5-5 with a 2.70 ERA (18 earned runs/60.0 innings) and 28 saves in 61 games.

Last season, Henderson made the bulk of his appearances with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League in his first season after having shoulder surgery in 2014. In 29 games, one start, with the Sky Sox, Henderson went 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA (15 earned runs/29.2 innings). In 14 appearances after the All-Star break, Henderson posted a 3.86 ERA (six earned runs/14.0 innings) for Colorado Springs. He also had stops with Brevard County (A) of the Florida State League (two games) and Biloxi (AA) of the Southern League (four games) last season.

Henderson was originally selected by Montreal in the 26th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft. He was selected by the Cubs in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft in 2006 before eventually signing with Milwaukee as a free agent prior to the 2009 season.
