Moustakas, Prince shake off collision at first

KANSAS CITY -- Now Mike Moustakas knows what it feels like to run into a brick wall. Or Prince Fielder.

In the Royals' sixth inning on Wednesday night, Moustakas hit a bouncer that the Tigers' Fielder grabbed near first base. Deciding to take the play himself, Fielder dashed past pitcher Anibal Sanchez and planted his foot on the bag.

Just then Moustakas arrived, blasted into Fielder's right side, and both players went rolling onto the grass behind first base.

"It was a funny play. It took a tricky hop toward Prince and he made good play and went to the bag, and I ended up running into a wall," Moustakas said. "He made a great play and we ended up colliding. He's a great guy, so we helped each other up and just kept playing."

Neither player was injured and both finished the Royals' 1-0 win with zero problems.

"He's a great player and an even better person, so if something like that happens, we just help each other up and go on to the next play," Moustakas said.
