Minor League free agent Silverio suspended

Minor League free-agent pitcher Dewin Silverio has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatement Program.

Silverio tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, and his suspension will be effective immediately as soon as he signs with a Major League organization.

Silverio, 19, had agreed to a contract with Detroit in March, but had to pass a drug test as part of the deal, according to The Associated Press.
