MLB announces Bucs' postseason shares

PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates split up their portion of the postseason players' pool by issuing 57 full shares, a total of 8.93 partial shares and one cash award, Major League Baseball announced on Monday.

Pittsburgh received $1,048,232.24 from the players' pool after losing to the Cubs at PNC Park on Oct. 7 in the National League Wild Card Game presented by Budweiser. A full share was worth $15,884.20.

The 2015 postseason players' pool reached a record-high $69,882,149.26 this year. It was then divided among the 10 playoff clubs, with the World Series champion Royals taking home full shares worth $370,069.03 each. The National League champion Mets' full shares were worth $300,757.78 each.

The players' pool is created by taking 50 percent of the gate receipts from the Wild Card Games, 60 percent from the first three Division Series games, 60 percent from the first four League Championship Series games and 60 percent from the first four World Series games.
