Nats, Strasburg avoid arbitration with one-year deal

The Nationals and right-hander Stephen Strasburg have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year deal, the club confirmed via its official Twitter account on Friday night.

MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported that Strasburg will receive $3.975 million in 2014, plus performance bonuses.

Strasburg, 25, was 8-9 with a 3.00 ERA in 30 starts for the Nationals in 2013, striking out 191 in 183 innings.
