Nationals reveal 2016 Minor League staff
WASHINGTON -- The Nationals named their Minor League managers, coaches and coordinators for the 2016 season on Thursday.
Randy Knorr and Matt LeCroy, who were with the big league club last year, highlight the Minor League staff. Knorr was the Nats' bench coach the last four years, and he is now the senior advisor to general manager Mike Rizzo in player development. LeCroy was the bullpen coach the last two years, and he takes over as the manager for Double-A Harrisburg.
Jerad Head and Josh Johnson were once players in the Nationals' farm system, and they will both be Minor League managers. Head will be the skipper for Short-Season Class A Auburn, while Johnson will lead the Rookie-Level Gulf Coast Nationals.
Brian Daubach, who played eight years in the Majors, will be the hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse after managing Double-A Harrisburg in 2015. Former big league backstop Michael Barrett will assume the role of full-time catching coordinator. He split time between that role and managing the Gulf Coast Nationals in 2015.
