Nichol Whiteman named to lead Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation

Former Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) scholarship recipient Nichol Whiteman, who subsequently served as the organization's Western Region Officer, has been named Executive Director of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.

With more than seven years of non-profit leadership experience, Whiteman firmly understands the Dodgers' rich history, having worked with the franchise to enhance opportunities for students of color in a pursuit of a college education during her tenure with JRF.

"We're delighted to have Nichol Whiteman heading up the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation," said Foundation Chairman and Dodgers' Chairman and Owner Mark Walter. "The Dodgers' work in the community is an integral part of what we are as an organization and we know Nichol will do an outstanding job in leading the Foundation's drive to grow those efforts."

Whiteman will lead the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation's new focus on three important community pillars-sports and recreation, education and literacy, and health and wellness.

"As a longstanding supporter of the Dodgers franchise, I am firmly committed to advancing the Foundation, broadening its impact, and improving the quality of life for children and families throughout the greater Los Angeles region."

Prior to joining the Dodgers, Whiteman served as Executive Director of College Summit's California region. Her previous positions included Vice President, Development and Communications (2011-13) for LA's Promise, the Jackie Robinson Foundation (2006-2011), the

Earl Graves Publishing Company/Black Enterprise Magazine (2000-2006) as Director, Group Sales and Sponsorship, Essence Magazine (1999-2000) as Manager, Sales Promotions and Merchandising and J.P. Morgan Chase (1998-99) as Marketing Analyst, marketing strategy and communications.

Upon earning the JRF scholarship, Whiteman entered Spelman College in Atlanta and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Management & Organization in May 1998.

In addition to her JRF Scholarship, Whiteman was named Spelman Class of 1998 Businesswoman of the Year, earned the 2005 LEAD Program in Business Leaders of Tomorrow Award and in 2010 was honored as Woman of Inspiration Honoree by The Wave.

Whiteman is a member of the JRF alumni association, LEAD Program in Business alumni, United Negro College Fund alumni and members of the JP Morgan Chase Alumni, National Alumnae Association of Spelman College and the National Black MBA Association.

She has served on a number of boards, including the Executive Leadership Team at the American Heart Association Go Red Campaign; the advisory board of the Black Enterprise Woman of Power Conference; the Board of Directors for the IDefine Foundation; advisory member of The Positive Results Corporation and serves on the National Advisory Council of A Better Chance, Inc and the Southern California Advisory Board of College Summit.

Whiteman's family immigrated to New York City from Jamaica. She earned a scholarship to attend a boarding high school in Connecticut where she excelled in soccer and caught the attention of acclaimed scholarship organizations.

Whiteman lives in Inglewood with her husband Timothy and their two young sons Timothy Jr. and Nicholas.
