Rockies retain entire coaching staff for 2016

DENVER -- Two weeks after announcing that manager Walt Weiss would return for 2016, the Rockies announced Tuesday that the entire coaching staff also will return.

Weiss is returning for his fourth season and the final year of a three-year contract, but next year will be his first without a major staff change. Under Weiss, the Rockies went 68-94 in 2015, and are 208-278 in three seasons. Last year the Rockies made a major front-office change, promoting Jeff Bridich to general manager in place of the team of Dan O'Dowd and Bill Geivett.

Hitting coach Dante Bichette resigned after 2013, citing a desire to spend more time with family, and was replaced by Blake Doyle. That year, catching instructor Jerry Weinstein moved to player development, first-base coach Rene Lachemann shifted to catching and defensive positioning coach, and Eric Young was hired to coach first base.

After the 2014 season, the Rockies parted ways with pitching coach Jim Wright and assistant pitching coach Bo McLaughlin, and hired Steve Foster as pitching coach and Darren Holmes as bullpen coach.

Bench coach Tom Runnells and third-base coach Stu Cole have been with Weiss his entire time in the job.
