A's infielder Sizemore elects to become free agent
OAKLAND -- Scott Sizemore's time with the A's appears to be over.
The versatile infielder, who was limited to just two games in the last two years because of knee injuries, cleared waivers and elected free agency on Friday.
Having already missed all of 2012 while rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee, Sizemore retore the ACL less than 10 days into the 2013 season. He's been rehabbing near his home in Arizona and is expected to be fully healthy for Spring Training.
The 28-year-old, who can play both third base and second base, was traded from the Tigers to the A's in June 2011 and appeared in 93 games for Oakland that year, batting .249 with a .345 on-base percentage to go along with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs.
