Omni Hotel planned as part of SunTrust Park development

ATLANTA -- When the Braves open SunTrust Park at the start of the 2017 season, the mixed-use development surrounding the stadium will include a 16-floor Omni Hotel that will be situated directly behind the left-center-field stands.

"This will fit hand and glove with our fan plaza and everything that we're going to be doing," Braves chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk said. "When [Omni Hotels] showed interest, we were with them 100 percent."

The Braves announced their partnership with Omni Hotels during a Tuesday morning news conference that was staged across the street from where construction workers are building the baseball stadium as well as the retail and entertainment options that will surround it.

"It's really hard to deliver quality service, and Omni has done that year after year, we really express it," said Bob Rowling, who purchased Omni Hotels in 1989. "You will see a hotel here that is not only beautiful aesthetically, but you'll see the service that is four-star and four-diamond. The guests will have a great experience."

The Omni Hotel located at SunTrust Park will include: 260 guest rooms and suites; rooftop hospitality suites; approximately 12,500 square feet of meeting space; a signature restaurant; an elevated pool deck; and a bar overlooking the plaza and ballpark.

"This hotel will be designed to fit in with this development," Rowling said. "Every one of our hotels is different. With every one of them, we try to capture the flavor of what is going on around the property, and this one will be no different."

This hotel will provide lodging and meeting space to business and leisure travelers who wish to take advantage of the year-round entertainment options this multiuse development will offer. The Braves are still in the process of selecting the retail, dining, commercial and residential options.

"We are absolutely committed to do best in class with each of these ventures," McGuirk said. "We're so particular as to who our partners are and how this area gets populated. It all contributes to the ballpark, and we want this to be the finest place for our fans to come that has ever been built."
