Hedges, Spangenberg earn AFL honors

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Two Padres Minor Leaguers were named to the Arizona Fall League 2013 Top Prospects Team on Monday: catcher Austin Hedges, MLB.com's No. 2 Padres prospect, and second baseman Cory Spangenberg, the club's 15th-ranked prospect.

Hedges hit .273/.333/.400 with six RBIs in 15 games, reaching base in 15 straight games beginning Oct. 15. The 21-year-old backstop also threw out two basestealers as the starting catcher for the West Division in the Nov. 2 Fall Stars Game.

Spangenberg, 22, hit .308/.357/.492 with two homers, seven RBIs and seven stolen bases in 19 games for the Peoria Javelinas.
