Phillies and Citizens Volunteer with the Fairmount Park Conservancy on Earth

While the team is away in Cincinnati, Phillies front office staff and Citizens employees took action for a healthier planet. Together, they celebrated Earth Day during a volunteer workday event led by the Fairmount Park Conservancy at Pattison Lagoon at FDR Park, a half-mile away from Citizens Bank Park.

More than 50 employees helped to honor the planet by planting native grasses and trees, removing invasive species and participating in trash cleanup as needed at Pattison Lagoon. The Phillie Phanatic joined the fun, “helping” employees during the cleanup and orchestrating a Red Goes Green volunteer group photo.

Fairmount Park Conservancy leads volunteer efforts year-round to engage park-lovers and sustain Philadelphia’s parks across the city. The Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation encourage all Philadelphians to sign up for Love Your Park, May 11-19, to help maintain clean, green and beautiful public spaces for all.
