Players of the Week

Pitcher: LH Jesse Biddle, Clearwater. Was 1-0 for 2 starts, 0.64 ERA. Pitched 14 innings, allowed 8 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), walked 3 and struck out 21. Had no-decision on Monday and won on Sunday, a game in which he struck out a career-high 12 in 7 innings. Threw 104 pitches, 72 for strikeouts. Previous strikeout high was 10, 8/4/10, while pitching in the Gulf Coast League. Victory was his third in a row, 3-2 for the season with a 2.53 ERA. He's given up 6 runs in his last 8 games, after allowing 9 in his first two starts. The 20-year-old was the Phillies' first-round selection (27th overall) in 2010 out of Germantown Friends School and signed by Eric Valent.

The 31-year-old was originally selected by Oakland in the 22nd round 12 years ago. He was signed as a Minor League free agent 12/11/09 by the Phillies.
