Phillies to host championship games for local colleges on Tuesday

Top area baseball players compete for Phillies' Bill Giles Invitational & Liberty Bell Classic Championship Titles

On Tuesday, April 22, local colleges will compete at Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies' Bill Giles Invitational and Liberty Bell Classic championship titles. Both games are open to the public. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the First Base Gate ticket windows. Gates open at 2:45 p.m. Parking is free in Lot P, located off Darien Street (must mention Championship Game to enter at no charge).

BILL GILES INVITATIONAL, TUESDAY, 3:30 P.M.

On Tuesday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. the West Chester University Rams will take on the Wilmington University Wildcats in the championship game of the Bill Giles Invitational at Citizens Bank Park.

The semi-final round of the 14th Annual Bill Giles Invitational began Saturday, March 1, with the West Chester University Golden Rams defeating the Philadelphia University Rams, 4-1. The Wilmington University Wildcats defeated the University of the Sciences Devils on Thursday, April 17, at University of the Sciences 17-2 to advance to the finals.

The Bill Giles Invitational was introduced in 2001 and is a Division II college baseball tournament. For more information, please visit here

LIBERTY BELL CLASSIC, TUESDAY, 7:30 P.M.

The LaSalle University Explorers will play the St. Joseph's University Hawks in the 23rd Annual Liberty Bell Classic championship game at Citizens Bank Park, on Tuesday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m.

Semi-final action took place on Tuesday, April 8, where LaSalle University defeated University of Delaware, 18-5, and St. Joseph's defeated University of Pennsylvania, 4-2.

The Liberty Bell Classic was created in 1992 as a way for local Division I colleges to compete against each other in a tournament and have the opportunity to play on a major league field. For more information, please visit http://mlb.mlb.com/phi/community/liberty_bell.jsp.
