Puig OK following exit with sore back

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig was removed from Wednesday night's 10-3 win over the Reds with "upper back soreness" but said he expects to play on Thursday.

Puig received treatment after exiting the game and also iced both shoulders. He said his back felt better after treatment and the shoulders were not an issue.

Puig was scheduled to play six innings but left in the fifth after striking out and grounding out. He later said the discomfort was in his upper back near the left shoulder blade.

Manager Don Mattingly said trainer Stan Conte believed Puig would be able to play Thursday against the Angels in Tempe.

"I don't try to figure out Yasiel," said Mattingly. "He's had shoulder, different things. I'm not too concerned as long as tomorrow he can play."

Mike Baxter replaced Puig in right field and went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
