Ready tabbed to manage Triple-A Gwinnett
After playing in 777 Major League games over the course of 13 seasons, the 52-year-old Ready spent eight seasons as a Minor League manager for the Tigers and Padres. He served as the Padres' hitting coach from 2009-11 and this past season was the Rangers' Minor League hitting coordinator.
"I'm very excited to join the Atlanta Braves organization," Ready said in a release. "The Braves have been a model of consistency as an organization for a long time. I'm looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season and being a part of the Braves family moving forward."
Ready was named "Best Manager Prospect" in the Pacific Coast League by Baseball America in 2008. After he led Double-A San Antonio to a Texas League championship in 2008, the Padres presented him with the Jack Krol Award for contributions to player development.
Brundage, who spent six seasons managing Gwinnett, was hired by the Phillies to manage their Triple-A Lehigh Valley team.
