Rangers set up memorial fund for Durrett's family

OAKLAND -- The Rangers have established a memorial fund to benefit the family of Richard Durrett, a writer for ESPNDallas who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 38. Durrett is survived by his wife and two children.

Donations can be made at texasrangers.com/foundation or through the mail at Richard Durrett Family Fund, Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, 1000 Ballpark Way, Suite 400, Arlington, TX 76011. Donations made through the Rangers Foundation in his memory will be directed to the Richard Durrett Family Fund.

Donations can also be made to the Richard Durrett Family Fund, c/o Liberty Bank, 3880 Hulen Street, Suite 100, Fort Worth, TX 76107 or at any of their five Metroplex locations.

Durrett covered the Rangers for ESPNDallas for the past five years. Prior to that, he worked at the Dallas Morning News and the Denton Record-Chronicle in a wide variety of roles commensurate with his many talents. He was a graduate of TCU, and his passing has brought about heartfelt condolences from numerous friends, colleagues and athletes.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus tweeted, "On behalf of myself and my teammates, we send our condolences to the family of Richard Durrett. He was always a smiling face in our clubhouse, and our prayers are with his family."

Dallas Stars hockey great Mike Modano tweeted, "We'll miss you Richard Durrett. A great friend and the best in the business."
