Redmond claimed off waivers by rival Blue Jays

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Right-handed pitcher Todd Redmond was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday afternoon.

The move leaves the Orioles with 39 players on the 40-man roster and Redmond, upon being acquired, was optioned to Toronto's Triple-A club. The O's claimed Redmond on waivers over the winter from the Cincinnati Reds, and he pitched to a 5.63 ERA in five spring games before being optioned to Minor League camp on March 16.
