Reminder: Red Schoendienst To Be Inducted into The Milwaukee Braves Honor Roll Tomorrow At Miller Park

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Braves Historical Association will induct Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst into the Braves Honor Roll tomorrow, April 9 in a ceremony beginning at noon. The Braves Honor Roll is located on the Miller Park Field Level Concourse along the third base side (near the Main Gate).

A 10-time All-Star, Schoendienst played 19 seasons in the Major Leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and the Milwaukee Braves. The second baseman appeared in 2,216 games, collected 2,449 hits and batted .289 lifetime. He was acquired by the Milwaukee Braves in a midseason trade from the Giants in 1957 and led the National League with 200 hits that season. His acquisition by the Braves played an integral role in claiming the 1957 World Series championship. The following season, Schoendienst appeared in 106 games for the Braves as he helped lead Milwaukee to a second straight pennant.

Altogether during his Major League career, Schoendienst finished in the top 10 in MVP voting four times, including third in 1957. He later went on to manage the Cardinals to a World Series title in 1967 and a National League pennant in 1968. Schoendienst was voted into the Baseball of Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in 1989.

The 92-year-old Schoendienst will not be able to attend the unveiling event.

There are 13 additional members of the Milwaukee Braves Honor Roll, including Warren Spahn (2004), Johnny Logan (2005), Andy Pafko (2006), Bobby Thomson (2008), Bob Uecker (2009), Felix Mantilla (2010), Eddie Mathews (2010), Joe Adcock (2011), Frank Torre (2011), Del Crandall (2012), Hank Aaron (2012), Gene Conley (2013) and Joe Torre (2014).
